POSITION OVERVIEW
Proterra AcreTrader is seeking a Software Engineer to join our development team in building a leading agricultural investment platform. This role is primarily hands-on coding and includes close collaboration with our Chief Architect to develop a deep understanding of the full application framework within the first six months.
The ideal candidate is excited about technical growth, enjoys solving complex problems, and is comfortable working across both front-end and back-end systems. This position requires the ability to contribute to architectural decisions, implement modern web technologies, and help build scalable tools that meet investor needs. This is an opportunity to make an immediate impact while helping shape and expand a growing platform in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage the full software development lifecycle, from planning through deployment and maintenance
• Prepare technical specifications and assess operational feasibility
• Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code
• Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
• Maintain documentation and support ongoing software functionality
• Evaluate and deploy software tools, processes, and engineering metrics
• Provide technical support and consultation related to software systems usage
• Design, build, and optimize high-availability services
• Identify bottlenecks across the current stack and proactively implement solutions
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of software development experience
• 3+ years of experience with JavaScript or TypeScript (React/Vue/Next.js)
• 3+ years of experience with Go and Python
• 3+ years of experience with PostgreSQL and Docker
• Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical specifications
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Transparent, collaborative, and open to feedback
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
• Must be presently legally authorized to work in the United States for any U.S. employer
• This position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and orchestration tools, including Google Cloud Platform, Kubernetes, and Terraform
• Familiarity with Django and Git
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The expected annual base salary range for this position is USD$90,000 to $130,000. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related factors, including but not limited to education and skills, and is commensurate with experience. Additional compensation and benefits include a discretionary bonus, healthcare plan, 401(k) matching program, and flexible paid time off.
