Description

The team that built the innovative Silicon IP AZ1 Neural Edge powering the latest generation of Echo devices is looking for an SoC Lab Validation Technician to support post-silicon validation and lab operations as we continue to innovate on behalf of our customers.

We are part of Amazon Lab126 that revolutionized reading with Kindle and reimagined user experience through Echo and Alexa. We want you to help us build on the success of our first generation of ML accelerator at edge.

Key job responsibilities

Perform board-level rework on SoC development and validation platforms, including component soldering, desoldering, wire modifications, and connector replacements

Set up and operate lab equipment such as DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, and signal generators for silicon validation and debug

Execute pre-defined test scripts and validation test plans on emulation, prototyping, and early silicon platforms

Assist in silicon bringup activities including power sequencing verification, clock measurement, and basic functional checkout

Build, configure, and maintain lab test setups and prototype hardware platforms

Perform board-level debug under the guidance of senior validation engineers, including probing signals, capturing waveforms, and documenting observations

Maintain lab inventory, manage equipment calibration schedules, and ensure lab safety compliance

Document test results, rework procedures, and debug findings in a clear and structured manner

Support automation of repetitive lab tasks using basic scripting (Python, shell scripts)

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of hardware development, test lab, space/aerospace maintenance or hands-on engineering environment experience
Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup and circuit board layout
Knowledge of tools and measurement devices (oscilloscope, frequency analyzer, or equivalent)
Experience developing high quality test plans, test designs, test strategies, and test execution
Knowledge of concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis, electronic system design, and decision making
Experience in reading and understanding schematics and building drawings
Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities, or experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems
Experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or a related discipline

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with post-silicon validation
Familiarity with ARM-based development boards or embedded platforms
Experience with JTAG, SWD, UART, I2C, SPI, or other common debug/communication interfaces
Exposure to thermal testing, power measurement, or reliability testing setups
Experience with version control systems (Git) and issue tracking tools
Familiarity with bare-metal firmware loading and basic boot flow debug
Knowledge of ESD-safe handling procedures and cleanroom/lab protocols
Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting procedures and collaborating across teams
