Principal DSP Engineer
Boston, MA | Onsite

Most DSP roles put you on one side of the fence. You either own the theory or you build the hardware. This one needs both, and that's exactly why it's interesting.

Our client is a world renowned technology innovation consultancy. Their engineers don't iterate on existing products. They invent things that haven't been built before, across wireless communications, sensing, audio and imaging. This role sits in a newly formed North American group delivering that same calibre of work for US Government clients.

What you'll do
Design advanced signal processing systems from first principles, then take them all the way into working hardware. You'll model algorithms in MATLAB or Python, implement them on FPGAs, and build prototype systems that prove out capabilities nobody else has demonstrated. Projects change regularly. The problems don't repeat.
You'll be involved end to end, from shaping early concepts with clients through to designing, building and testing the finished prototype.

What you'll need
MS or BS plus 7 or more years in DSP or a closely related field. Strong signal processing theory, ideally applied to communications systems. Real FPGA experience: design, verification, RTL, simulation. Solid programming in C, C++ or Rust. Good habits around testing and documentation.

US citizenship is required due to the nature of the client work.

Experience with embedded real time systems, RF or audio test equipment, ML implementation or comms standards (3GPP, IEEE, WiFi, Bluetooth) all help but none are dealbreakers.
