Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Developer to support a federal government program serving the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The candidate will provide full lifecycle ServiceNow development, configuration, and integration support within an enterprise federal IT environment. Experience supporting VA health care operations or the VA Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) is highly preferred.
This position requires strong technical expertise, the ability to follow government processes and compliance standards, and the capability to work effectively within integrated contractor–government delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Support development, enhancement, and maintenance of ServiceNow modules including ITSM, ITOM, CMDB, HRSD, CSM, and custom applications.
• Develop Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, UI Policies, Flow Designer workflows, and custom integrations.
• Implement integrations using REST/SOAP APIs, MID Server components, and scripted interfaces.
• Participate in technical design sessions, architecture discussions, and compliance reviews with government stakeholders.
• Support Agile sprint ceremonies, backlog refinement, and release planning per government contract requirements.
• Assist with platform upgrades, patching, and security compliance activities aligned with FedRAMP and VA governance.
• Produce required contract deliverables including technical documentation, design specs, test plans, and deployment artifacts.
• Troubleshoot complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, and provide Tier 3 platform support.
• Ensure all work complies with project quality standards, VA security policies, and contract guidelines.
Required Qualifications
• 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript, Glide API, Flow Designer, and Service Portal development.
• Demonstrated experience developing REST/SOAP integrations and API-driven workflows.
• Experience supporting ServiceNow solutions in federal or regulated environments.
• Ability to work within structured Agile, SAFe, or hybrid federal SDLC environments.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills applicable to government clients.
• ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
• Must be eligible for and able to maintain a VA Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA medical centers, or VA IT programs.
• Familiarity with VA Enterprise Service Desk (ESD) operations, SLAs, and processes.
• Knowledge of federal IT security frameworks, including FedRAMP, FISMA, and ATO requirements.
• Experience with CMDB modeling, Discovery, Event Management, or ITOM modules.
• Additional ServiceNow certifications (CAD, CIS–ITSM, CIS–ITOM, HRSD, CSM, etc.).
• Experience generating required artifacts for government programs (SOPs, design documents, test scripts, release notes).
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent relevant experience that meets contract labor category requirements.
