Position: Validation Engineer – Power Generation Systems
Location: Houston, TX
Type: Full time, on-site, with some travel
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Validation Engineer to support the development, validation, and reliability of high-performance engine-driven systems that support mission-critical power applications, including data center infrastructure. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, root cause problem solving, and cross-functional collaboration, while maintaining discretion around proprietary products and programs. The successful candidate will bring prior experience with engines or rotating equipment and apply structured validation and reliability methodologies to complex mechanical systems.
Job Duties:
Engine & Component Validation
- Plan and execute validation activities for mechanical systems and components used in engine-driven power applications
- Develop and review validation plans, test procedures, and acceptance criteria aligned with performance, durability, and reliability requirements
- Support component- and system-level testing, including teardown inspections and failure analysis
- Ensure validation activities meet internal engineering standards and industry best practices
Failure Analysis & Reliability
- Lead and participate in DFMEA activities for engine systems and critical components
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on field, test, or manufacturing issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Support reliability growth initiatives through data analysis, test feedback, and design recommendations
- Interface with reliability, maintenance, and operations stakeholders to capture real-world performance insights
Hands-On Engineering Support
- Perform hands-on component removal, disassembly, inspection, and reassembly as part of validation and failure investigations
- Work closely with test, manufacturing, and service teams to troubleshoot mechanical and system-level issues
- Review drawings, specifications, and design changes to assess validation and risk impacts
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Documentation
- Collaborate with design engineering, manufacturing, quality, and external suppliers to support validation objectives
- Prepare clear, concise technical reports documenting test results, findings, and recommendations
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to validation processes and product robustness
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in validation, testing, reliability, maintenance, or product support
- Prior experience with engines or engine-related systems; backgrounds may include reciprocating engines, turbines, pumps, compressors, or similar rotating equipment
- Industry experience may come from Oil & Gas, Automotive, Marine, Aviation, Power Generation, or related sectors
- Demonstrated experience with DFMEA and structured Root Cause Analysis methodologies
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude, including component removal, teardown, and failure inspection
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to work in a confidential environment and communicate technical information professionally and discreetly
