Staff Engineer – Electromechanical Product Development

We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer to lead technical innovation, product development, and cross‑functional collaboration for next‑generation electromechanical products. This role is ideal for an engineer with deep mechanical/electrical expertise who thrives in fast‑paced environments and enjoys driving design excellence from concept through launch.
Onsite in Columbia SC area

As a key technical leader, the Staff Engineer will guide research, development, testing, and manufacturing readiness for new and existing products. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert on electromechanical devices, motors, and batteries, while influencing cost, quality, reliability, and schedule outcomes across multiple product lines.

Key Responsibilities
Lead electromechanical design, battery optimization, and product testing
Drive major new product development initiatives from concept to launch
Manage cost, quality, and schedule deliverables for NPD, quality improvement, and cost‑reduction efforts
Collaborate globally with engineering, supply chain, and project management teams
Conduct and facilitate technical design reviews and work closely with suppliers on design‑for‑manufacturability
Troubleshoot and optimize designs with domestic and international teams
Support manufacturing processes through DFM/DFA guidance and cross‑functional input

Qualifications
B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited)
7+ years of experience in electromechanical product design and manufacturing
Strong analytical abilities and judgment in mechanical/structural design
Proficiency with CREO (preferred), SolidWorks, or NX
Working knowledge of key manufacturing processes: injection molding, machining, casting, forging, heat treatment, powder coating, etc.
Experience with DFMEA, PFMEA, DFM/DFA, PPAP, DVP&R, and problem‑solving methodologies
Excellent communication skills and experience working cross‑functionally across global teams
Experience with power tools or similar products preferred.
