Senior Silicon Photonics Design Engineer

An innovative technology company developing advanced optical technologies is seeking a Senior Silicon Photonics Design Engineer to join its growing engineering team. This role will focus on the design, simulation, layout, and characterization of silicon photonic devices and photonic integrated circuits for next-generation communication and networking applications.
Responsibilities
Design and simulate passive and active silicon photonic devices and PICs.
Develop and maintain device layouts and support tape-out activities.
Collaborate with fabrication partners throughout the manufacturing process.
Perform device testing, characterization, and data analysis.
Contribute to design improvements and workflow optimization.
Requirements
PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in silicon photonics device design.
Experience with photonic modelling, simulation, and layout tools.
Familiarity with foundry tape-out processes and PDKs.
Knowledge of components such as grating couplers, edge couplers, MMIs, directional couplers, and polarization management devices.
Hands-on experience with photonic device characterization and laboratory testing.
Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Compensation
$150,000 – $220,000 DOE
