Build and productize the silicon behind next-generation edge AI

At BrainChip, we’re developing a new class of AI hardware designed to bring real-time intelligence directly to devices.

Our Akida™ neuromorphic processor platform uses fully digital, event-based processing to deliver highly efficient AI inference and on-chip learning for applications across vision, audio, sensor fusion, industrial systems, automotive, healthcare, robotics, and consumer devices.

We are looking for a Senior Product & Test Engineer to lead silicon characterization, validation, production test, and yield improvement for current and next-generation Akida-based products.

This is a highly cross-functional role spanning pre-silicon test planning, post-silicon bring-up, device characterization, production readiness, and high-volume manufacturing support.

What you’ll do
Own product and test engineering activities from pre-silicon planning through characterization, qualification, production release, and sustaining support
Develop comprehensive silicon validation, characterization, and production test strategies for advanced AI processors and SoCs
Translate product requirements and device specifications into detailed test plans, test coverage, test procedures, and manufacturing solutions
Lead post-silicon bring-up and characterize device functionality, power, performance, and reliability across process, voltage, and temperature conditions
Correlate silicon results with design specifications, simulations, FPGA prototypes, and system-level expectations
Debug complex functional and electrical issues in collaboration with digital design, verification, architecture, firmware, software, systems, and applications teams
Develop and optimize automated test solutions for wafer probe, final test, characterization, and production screening
Improve manufacturing yield, test coverage, test time, quality, and overall product cost
Analyze large silicon datasets to identify yield trends, performance outliers, systematic defects, and opportunities for test optimization
Characterize system interfaces, clocks, memory, power-management functions, and high-speed or low-power connectivity such as PCIe, SPI, JTAG, and related interfaces
Work closely with foundry, packaging, OSAT, and test partners to support product introduction and volume production
Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations involving silicon, package, board, firmware, or test-program interactions
Define reliability and qualification plans in partnership with internal teams and external manufacturing partners
Develop scripts and automation to improve data analysis, characterization efficiency, regression testing, and reporting
Create clear technical documentation covering test methods, device performance, known issues, corrective actions, and production readiness
Serve as a technical lead on complex programs and mentor engineers across product, validation, and test activities
Support customer-facing engineering teams with technical analysis, product data, and issue resolution when needed

What you bring
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
4+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering, silicon validation, test engineering, or a related discipline
Strong experience bringing ASICs, SoCs, processors, accelerators, or mixed-signal devices from initial silicon through production
Hands-on experience with post-silicon bring-up, device characterization, production test, and silicon debug
Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing, process variation, yield analysis, qualification, and reliability
Experience developing or supporting ATE test programs using platforms such as Advantest, Teradyne, or similar systems
Experience using laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, pattern generators, and protocol analyzers
Ability to interpret device specifications, schematics, timing diagrams, simulation results, and semiconductor test data
Experience investigating functional, electrical, performance, power, and manufacturing-related failures
Proficiency with Python or another scripting language for test automation and data analysis
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead technical work independently and drive issues to resolution across multiple teams and locations
Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical findings to different audiences

Preferred qualifications
Master’s degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
Experience with AI accelerators, neural processing units, neuromorphic computing, embedded processors, MCUs, MPUs, or low-power SoCs
Experience validating highly power-constrained or always-on silicon
Familiarity with digital design, RTL simulation, verification, DFT, scan, memory BIST, boundary scan, or JTAG
Experience with PCIe, SPI, AXI, AHB, APB, memory subsystems, and embedded processor architectures
Knowledge of RISC-V-based systems or hardware-software co-design
Experience with FPGA prototyping and system-level validation
Familiarity with neural-network workloads, edge AI, computer vision, audio processing, or sensor fusion
Experience working with foundries, assembly partners, OSATs, and external test facilities
Knowledge of JEDEC qualification standards and semiconductor reliability methodologies
Previous experience serving as a technical lead or mentoring other engineers
