About The Role

The Senior IAM Engineer provides hands on technical leadership across identity platforms and integrations, supports enterprise architectural patterns, and ensures IAM services are secure, resilient, and audit ready across RELX business units. While not an architect of record, the role acts as a delegate technical authority within defined architectural guardrails.

About The Team

This role is a senior individual contributor within RELX’s Central Operations, Governance and Security (COGS), responsible for the engineering, operation, and continuous improvement of RELX’s enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) services.

Responsibilities

IAM Platform Engineering & Operations

Operationally manage and enhance the RELX IAM platform, with primary focus on Saviynt Enterprise Identity Cloud (EIC).
Engineer, operate, and maintain Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) identity services.
Ensure IAM platforms meet enterprise standards for security, availability, performance, scalability, and auditability.

Architecture Contribution & Technical Leadership

Work closely with Architects to contribute to enterprise IAM patterns and designs.
Act as delegate architect where required, ensuring alignment with RELX standards.
Assess technical feasibility and implementation approaches for IAM‑related initiatives and integrations.

IAM BAU & Governance

Own and execute Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) lifecycle processes.
Support and operate access requests, approvals, revocations, certifications, and UAR controls.
Ensure IAM BAU processes are deterministic, repeatable, and compliant.

Integration, Automation & APIs

Design and implement ServiceNow integrations using REST APIs.
Build and consume IAM‑related APIs, working extensively with JSON‑based payloads.
Develop and maintain automation using Terraform and PowerShell to reduce manual operations.
Improve system monitoring, reconciliation, and operational transparency.

Security, Risk & Compliance

Apply security‑by‑design principles across IAM solutions.
Support audit and regulatory requirements aligned with CISSP‑level security domains.
Ensure enterprise change management follows strict, transparent, and well‑communicated protocols.

Emerging Identity & AI Enablement

Support IAM patterns for Non‑Human Identities (NHIs), service accounts, and machine‑to‑machine access.
Enable secure integration of AI gateways, agent‑based identities, and MCP‑style service models within enterprise IAM controls.

Collaboration & International Ways of Working

Operate as part of a globally distributed team comprising RELX staff and third‑party engineers.
Collaborate daily with US‑ and UK‑based peers, ensuring continuity across time zones.
Work effectively across cultural, organizational, and vendor boundaries while maintaining clear ownership and accountability.
Support follow‑the‑sun operations where required, without loss of control or auditability.

Requirements

Senior hands‑on experience with Saviynt Enterprise Identity Cloud (EIC) preferred, or at least other industry leading IAM solutions; SailPoint, One Identity, or others.
Proven enterprise IAM experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID.
Excellent experience operating IAM BAU services at scale.
Exceptional REST API and ServiceNow integration experience and PowerShell scripting capability.
Experience with Terraform for identity or cloud‑adjacent automation.
Deterministic, structured problem‑solving mindset with the ability to operate autonomously in a global, distributed environment.

Security & Credentials

CISSP or other industry recognised certification (required or strongly preferred).
Experience working in regulated, audit‑driven environments.

Preferred / Differentiators

Experience with AI‑related identity patterns (NHIs, gateways, service identities).
Exposure to enterprise‑scale identity automation and governance.
