Role Description The Senior FPGA & Imaging Systems Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Morrisville, NC. This role focuses on the design, implementation, and verification of FPGA-based architectures for advanced imaging systems, including development of image processing pipelines, sensor interfaces, and high-speed data paths. Day-to-day responsibilities include defining system requirements, creating hardware and firmware specifications, coding and simulating FPGA logic, integrating imaging sensors and optics, and performing system-level bring-up and debugging in the lab. The engineer collaborates closely with cross-functional teams in hardware, software, and product engineering to optimize image quality, performance, and reliability for automotive and industrial applications. Additional tasks include documenting designs, supporting validation and production test activities, and providing technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
Qualifications
Strong Systems Engineering skills, including requirements analysis, system architecture, and integration of complex imaging and FPGA-based systems.
Proficiency in Systems Design, covering FPGA design flows, image processing pipelines, sensor interfaces, and high-speed digital design.
Experience in Troubleshooting and Technical Support for imaging systems and FPGA platforms, including root-cause analysis and performance optimization.
Knowledge of System Administration related to engineering lab environments, configuration management, build systems, and development tools.
Hands-on experience with FPGA toolchains (e.g., Xilinx, Intel/Altera), HDL languages (VHDL/Verilog/SystemVerilog), and scripting (Python, TCL, or similar).
Background in imaging systems, optics, or image signal processing, with familiarity in camera sensors and standard imaging interfaces.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
