Responsible for designing, developing, and validating low-level software that directly interfaces with electronic hardware components.

Role Summary
Job Title: Senior Firmware Engineer
Experience Level: 5+ years of hands-on embedded systems development.
Core Purpose: To architect, implement, and optimize robust firmware code for microcontrollers and microprocessors, ensuring system performance and hardware stability.
Core Responsibilities
Firmware Architecture: Formulate hardware-software interface boundaries, define specifications, and outline overall code structures.
Code Development: Write and debug low-level embedded software using C and C++ programming languages.
Board Bring-up: Program drivers, bootloaders, and hardware abstraction layers for new silicon or proprietary application boards.
Peripheral Management: Configure timers, General Purpose Input/Outputs (GPIOs), Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs), Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) etc.
Protocol Implementation: Integrate standard communication stacks such as SPI, I2C, UART, BLE, Zigbee, WiFi.
System Diagnostics: Target, isolate, and resolve deep hardware-software interaction faults using logic analyzers and JTAG debuggers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Hardware, SoC Design, Verification, and Validation teams to review schematics and layouts.
Required Technical Skills
Languages: Advanced proficiency in embedded C/C++, and exposure to assembly or scripting languages like Python.
Architectures: Hands-on experience working with ARM Cortex-M/A, RISC-V, DSPs, or MPU/MCU spaces.
Operating Systems: Embedded Linux environments or RTOS, including FreeRTOS, Zephyr etc.
Hardware Tools: Proficient use of oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, multi-meters, and digital development kits.
Software Tools: Strong grasp of version control systems like Git, build automation tools, and continuous integration models.
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
Domain Expertise: Industry-specific knowledge based on the sector, such as Home Automation, Building Automation, Access and Security systems, Electric Vehicles and chargers, IoT devices etc.
