Job Summary
The Service Engineer is responsible for installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of centrifugal and gear pumps at customer sites. The role requires strong mechanical expertise, hands-on field service experience, and customer interaction to ensure optimal pump performance and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, and test centrifugal and gear pumps at customer locations
Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of pumps and pumping systems
Diagnose and resolve issues related to flow, pressure, vibration, noise, leakage, overheating, and seal failures
Perform pump dismantling, inspection, reconditioning, alignment, and reassembly
Handle replacement and fitting of mechanical seals, bearings, shafts, impellers, gears, and couplings
Conduct performance evaluation and basic troubleshooting of pump-motor assemblies
Provide on-site technical support, operational guidance, and training to customer personnel
Ensure adherence to safety standards and company quality procedures during service activities
Prepare detailed service reports, inspection reports, and job completion documents
Coordinate with production, quality, spares, and sales teams for technical resolution
Support warranty claims, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective/preventive actions
Travel extensively to customer sites and attend emergency service calls when required
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma / BE / BTech in Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
1–5 years of experience in servicing centrifugal and gear pumps
Freshers with strong fundamentals and industry exposure may also be considered
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of centrifugal pumps, gear pumps, and pumping systems
Understanding of pump hydraulics, clearances, materials, and performance curves
Familiarity with mechanical seals, gland packing, bearings, and couplings
Ability to read GA drawings, P&ID diagrams, and technical manuals
Basic electrical knowledge of motors and starter panels (preferred)
Alignment techniques (dial gauge / laser – added advantage)
Soft Skills
Good communication and customer-handling skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Willingness to travel and work independently at sites
Time management and documentation discipline
Team-oriented and service-focused attitude
Working Conditions
Field-based role with frequent travel
Exposure to industrial environments
May involve emergency and breakdown service support
