About Evergreen Additive
We are a manufacturing technology company specializing in manufacturing systems for the maritime industry and national defense. Our customers are commercial boat builders who need composite tooling faster and cheaper than traditional methods allow, and defense programs that need expendable autonomous systems built at the speed of the threat. We're growing!

Why This Role Matters
This position is our first employee addition to our engineering team. You won't inherit a process, but instead you'll help build it. Working directly with the founding team, you'll bring traditional engineering discipline to an advanced manufacturing environment: designing systems, analyzing performance, solving problems analytically and hands-on out on the shop floor. The work spans commercial tooling and defense vessel programs; you'll touch tool design, hull design, structural analysis, and manufacturing process in the same week. This role is for someone who is as comfortable with performing design as they are next to a running machine.

What You'll Do
Responsibilities will evolve, but the core work includes:
Vessel & Systems Design
Support hull form development, structural design, and systems integration for small autonomous unmanned surface vessels
Create and modify CAD models, assemblies, and technical documentation across vessel and tooling programs
Perform structural and hydrodynamic analysis to validate designs before they're built
Apply design-for-manufacturing principles to reduce cost, waste, and iteration cycles
Translate operational requirements into physical designs — working from customer or program inputs through to production-ready CAD models
Process Development & Quality
Help develop and document work instructions, setup sheets, and quality checkpoints
Track and report production data; flag deviations and propose fixes
Contribute to continuous improvement — we expect everyone to drive improvement cycles, not just participate in them
Machine Operation & Fabrication Support
Develop working familiarity with the industrial manufacturing equipment
Support production runs, troubleshoot process issues, and translate shop floor observations back into design improvements
Get your hands on the hardware when it matters - this is not a purely desk-based role
Support Across the Business
This is a small company. You'll occasionally do things that aren't on this list, and that's by design. Being a self-starter is critical to your success.

What We're Looking For
We care more about trajectory and mindset than a specific credential set.
You likely bring some of the following:
Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, Rhino, or equivalent — naval architecture tools a plus)
Background in mechanical, structural, naval architecture, or manufacturing engineering — degree, trade experience, or demonstrable equivalent
Exposure to vessel design, marine composites, additive manufacturing, or defense fabrication environments
Ability to perform basic FEA, hydrostatic analysis, or manufacturing analysis
Comfort reading and producing engineering drawings, technical documentation, and design packages

More importantly, you are:
Hungry. Self-motivated to work hard.
Humble. Low ego. You'll work alongside the founders. Pride in craft, not in title.
Smart. People-aware. Reads the room, communicates clearly, and works well across personalities.
Reliable. You show up, you follow through, you say what you mean.
Accountable. When something goes wrong, you own it and fix it.
Adaptable. You can comfortably move between work in an office and work on the shop floor.

Our Values
Integrity. People-Centered. Customer Obsession. Own It Together. Relentless Improvement.

These aren't wall art. They're how we make decisions and treat each other. Please carefully read them and consider whether you are a fit before you apply.

What You'll Get
Competitive compensation based on experience
Health, dental, and vision benefits
401(k) with company match
Direct access to the founding team and real influence on how this company is built

Location
Our manufacturing operations are in Brunswick, Maine. This position will be on-site in Brunswick with limited travel or remote work.

A Note on Clearances
Some of our defense work may require a U.S. security clearance in the future. This position requires access to information controlled under U.S. export regulations, including ITAR. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
