Senior Energy Engineer / Project Developer – ESCO | Florida (Hybrid)
Remote within Florida
Travel: 20 to 40%
About the Role
Our client is an established Energy Services Company delivering complex performance contracting projects across public and institutional markets, including K-12, healthcare, higher education, municipal, and government infrastructure throughout Florida.
They are hiring a Senior Energy Engineer/ Project Development Engineer to lead technical development of investment-grade projects across the state of Florida.
This is a high-impact role responsible for taking projects from audit through financial structure and client close.

What This Role Is
This is a senior-level Energy Engineer operating within an ESCO project development environment, not a general facilities or consulting role.
You will be responsible for:
Leading investment-grade audits and technical development
Developing technical scope and engineered solutions
Engineering energy conservation measures (ECMs)
Building financial models tied to guaranteed savings
Supporting project close alongside sales
Key Responsibilities
Lead ASHRAE Level III and investment-grade energy audits across complex facilities
Conduct detailed site assessments to identify mechanical and operational inefficiencies
Develop detailed scopes, cost estimates, and engineered energy conservation measures (ECMs) including HVAC, central plant, controls, and infrastructure upgrades
Build energy savings calculations and financial models tied to performance guarantees
Structure life-cycle cost analysis and project feasibility
Evaluate constructability, scope risk, and performance exposure
Partner with Account Executives to support client presentations and project close
Collaborate with Project Managers and delivery teams through implementation
Analyze utility consumption, facility performance, and operational inefficiencies
Coordinate with subcontractors and validate equipment selections prior to procurement
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred)
5 to 12+ years of experience in ESCO project development, performance contracting, or energy engineering
Direct experience leading ASHRAE Level III / investment-grade audits
Proven experience developing guaranteed savings models
Strong technical background in HVAC and central plant systems (chillers, boilers, controls, etc.)
Experience working on institutional or public-sector facilities (K-12, healthcare, higher education, municipal, government)
Proficiency with energy modeling tools (eQuest, Trace, HAP, or similar)
Must live in Southern Florida
Preferred:
PE, CEM, CMVP, or similar credentials
