Senior Electrical Engineer | Greater Boston
X4 Life Sciences is partnered with a fast-growing medical device company in the Greater Boston area that is investing heavily in the expansion of its engineering team. As part of an exciting period of growth, they're looking to hire a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the development of cutting-edge medical technology.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative engineering team where you'll have the autonomy to lead the design and development of complex electrical systems while collaborating with experts across mechanical, software, physics, and manufacturing engineering. If you're someone who enjoys solving technically challenging problems, taking ownership of projects, and seeing your designs progress from concept through to production, this could be the ideal next step.
What you'll be doing:
⚡ Leading the design and development of advanced electrical subsystems, including high-voltage power electronics, control circuitry, and precision analog/digital electronics.
⚡ Performing circuit analysis, schematic capture, PCB design reviews, and supporting the development of complex electrical assemblies.
⚡ Creating and executing electrical test plans, design verification activities, root cause investigations, and failure analysis to ensure products meet the highest standards of performance and reliability.
⚡ Owning electrical design documentation, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), engineering change orders (ECOs), and technical reports throughout the product lifecycle.
⚡ Collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate electrical subsystems into sophisticated medical technology platforms.
⚡ Supporting manufacturing, commissioning, and field teams by troubleshooting complex electrical issues and driving continuous product improvements.
⚡ Ensuring designs comply with IEC 60601 medical electrical safety standards and EMC requirements.
⚡ Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical leadership across electrical design projects.
What we're looking for:
✔ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of product development experience, or a Master's degree with 7+ years' experience.
✔ Proven experience delivering complex electrical products from concept through design, verification, validation, and release.
✔ Strong background in high-voltage power electronics, precision analog/digital circuit design, and AC/DC power distribution systems.
✔ Experience using PCB design tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or similar, alongside circuit simulation software.
✔ The ability to independently lead projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver innovative engineering solutions.
Bonus experience:
⭐ Medical Devices or Medical Capital Equipment
⭐ Aerospace, Defence, or another highly regulated engineering environment
⭐ IEC 60601 and EMC compliance
⭐ RF systems
⭐ Experience leveraging AI tools to improve engineering workflows and technical problem-solving.
Why join?
🚀 Join a company experiencing significant growth with exciting long-term career opportunities.
🛠 Take ownership of highly complex engineering projects from concept through production.
🤝 Work alongside a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of talented engineers.
🌍 Contribute to innovative medical technology that makes a meaningful difference while continuing to develop your own technical leadership.
If you're interested in learning more, or know someone who could be a great fit, I'd love to have a confidential conversation.
