Senior Electrical Engineer

Company Overview
At Skild AI, we are building the world's first general purpose robotic intelligence that is robust and adapts to unseen scenarios without failing. We believe massive scale through data-driven machine learning is the key to unlocking these capabilities for the widespread deployment of robots within society. Our team consists of individuals with varying levels of experience and backgrounds, from new graduates to domain experts. Relevant industry experience is important, but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. We are looking for passionate individuals who are eager to explore uncharted waters and contribute to our innovative projects.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to own electrical system integration across our robotics platforms. You will be a key player in electronics design for robot platforms and bridge the gap between software/firmware and kinematic motion and control. Additionally, you will be the internal expert for grounding, shielding, filtering, signal integrity, wireless integration, and EMC from concept through production. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can make sound system-level tradeoffs as requirements evolve, balancing electrical performance, mechanical constraints, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule without over-optimizing any single component.
Responsibilities
Develop, test, and validate power and sensor electronics systems
Design and validate motor driver circuits and power electronics systems
Integrate and fuse sensor data, including IMUs, encoders, hall sensors, and temperature sensors at the PCB level
Define grounding, bonding, shielding, filtering, and cable strategies across the robot
Identify EMC risks early and drive practical mitigations before they become late-stage issues
Debug EMC and hardware issues using scopes, spectrum analyzers, probes, LISNs, network analyzers, and other lab equipment
Make system-level tradeoffs across performance, risk, cost, schedule, and manufacturability
Partner across EE, ME, firmware, controls, systems, manufacturing, and external labs and consultants
Document design processes and contribute to hardware best practices
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field, plus relevant work experience
Hands-on experience taking electrical hardware from concept through validation and production
Hands-on experience with EMC/EMI design, debugging, and test on complex hardware
Strong knowledge of grounding, shielding, filtering, signal integrity, and power integrity
Proficiency in power electronics design, motor drives, switching power, high-current DC systems, battery management, and analog circuit design
Strong understanding of sensor integration, including IMUs, encoders, hall sensors, and cameras
Experience with RF systems, antenna integration, coexistence, and impedance control
Strong PCB design and layout skills with a system-level approach to EMC problems
Familiarity with communication protocols and interfaces such as GMSL, CAN, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C, and RS-485
Comfortable debugging in the lab, modifying hardware, and building quick test fixtures
Strong judgment and comfort making decisions with incomplete or changing requirements
Able to communicate tradeoffs clearly and drive decisions across multiple disciplines
Base Salary Range
$140,000 - $230,000 USD
