Senior / Principal Electrical Engineer
About RF Venue
RF Venue develops innovative RF and audio products used by professional audio customers around the world. Our products combine RF, analog and digital electronics, embedded systems, networking, and audio technologies to solve real-world problems for wireless microphone, in-ear monitor, and professional audio applications. We are a small engineering organization where engineers have significant ownership of their work and the opportunity to take products from early concepts through production.
The Opportunity
RF Venue is seeking an experienced Senior /Principal Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team in Walpole, Massachusetts.
We are looking for a hands-on engineer with strong fundamentals in analog, digital, and mixed-signal electronics who is comfortable designing new products, working in the lab, troubleshooting difficult problems, and supporting products through manufacturing. This is not a narrowly defined design role. You will work across the entire product lifecycle—from architecture and schematic design through prototype bring-up, verification, regulatory testing, manufacturing introduction, and sustaining engineering. The right person enjoys figuring out why something doesn't work as much as designing it in the first place.
What You'll Do
Design analog, digital, mixed-signal, power, and control circuitry for new products.
Develop system and circuit architectures and translate product requirements into practical hardware designs.
Create schematics and work closely with PCB designers on component placement, routing, grounding, power distribution, signal integrity, and manufacturability.
Select and evaluate components, including ICs, power supplies, converters, amplifiers, interfaces, and supporting circuitry.
Bring up prototype PCBs and troubleshoot hardware at the component and system level.
Perform hands-on laboratory testing using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, DMMs, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment.
Diagnose challenging problems involving noise, EMI/EMC, grounding, power integrity, signal integrity, thermal behavior, component failures, and manufacturing variation.
Design products with regulatory compliance in mind and support EMC, safety, FCC, CE, and other product qualification activities.
Work closely with RF, firmware/software, mechanical, manufacturing, operations, and product management teams.
· Support design transfer to manufacturing, including test strategy, manufacturing test requirements, troubleshooting, and yield improvement.
Investigate production and field failures and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Review existing designs and recommend improvements for performance, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and component availability.
Work directly with suppliers, contract manufacturers, and outside design partners when appropriate.
Mentor less-experienced engineers and contribute technical judgment to engineering decisions.
What We're Looking For
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
8+ years of professional electrical engineering experience, with flexibility for candidates whose depth of experience speaks for itself.
Strong analog and mixed-signal circuit design skills.
Solid understanding of digital electronics and common embedded interfaces.
Experience designing and debugging DC/DC converters, regulators, filtering, power distribution, and power sequencing.
Strong understanding of grounding, shielding, noise coupling, EMI/EMC, and practical PCB design.
Demonstrated experience bringing PCB designs from schematic through prototype, verification, and production.
Strong hands-on troubleshooting skills and the ability to systematically diagnose complex hardware problems.
Comfortable working directly with laboratory test equipment and making measurements at the circuit level.
Experience supporting products in manufacturing and resolving production issues.
Ability to work independently and make sound engineering decisions without requiring detailed technical direction.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in any of the following areas would be a plus:
RF circuit design or RF systems
Professional audio products
Low-noise analog electronics
RF amplifiers, LNAs, filters, splitters, combiners, and antenna systems
Ethernet and network-connected embedded products
Audio interfaces and digital audio
Embedded processors and microcontrollers
EMC troubleshooting and regulatory compliance
High-volume or contract manufacturing
Automated manufacturing test systems
Design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT)
Failure analysis and root-cause investigation
The Kind of Engineer Who Will Thrive Here
We're looking for someone who is comfortable moving between a schematic, a PCB, an oscilloscope, and a system-level problem. You should be the kind of engineer who, when confronted with an unexpected failure, wants to understand why it happened—not simply find a workaround. RF Venue is a relatively small organization, so engineers have broad responsibilities and considerable influence. There are opportunities to work on new product development one day, troubleshoot a manufacturing issue the next, and help define the architecture of a future product the day after that. We value engineers who combine strong technical fundamentals with curiosity, practical judgment, and a willingness to get their hands dirty.
Why RF Venue
At RF Venue, you'll have the opportunity to work on products where your engineering decisions directly influence what we build and how well it performs. You'll work closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team and have meaningful technical ownership rather than being one small part of a large development organization.
If you enjoy building real hardware, solving difficult technical problems, and seeing your designs become products used by customers around the world, we'd like to hear from you.
