As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of critical electrical subsystems and modules for SatCom user terminals. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will serve as a technical authority for power supplies, GNSS integration, and network exchange modules. An ideal candidate brings a sophisticated mathematical and engineering foundation, capable of solving complex, high-stakes hardware challenges with minimal oversight. This role requires a proven track record in high-speed digital design, hands-on lab leadership, and the ability to mentor junior engineers through rigorous documentation and validation standards.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks
Architectural Leadership: Lead the creation and critical review of hardware design documents, ensuring block diagrams, schematics, and BOMs meet global SatCom standards.
Advanced Subsystem Development: Drive the design and implementation of high-current switching power supplies and GNSS receiver modules using advanced microcontrollers, CPLDs, and FPGAs.
System Integrity & Analysis: Oversee complex simulations for signal and power integrity (SI/PI) to guarantee robust performance in high-speed environments.
Technical Validation: Direct board bring-up, advanced debugging, and Design Verification Testing (DVT) to ensure prototypes exceed operational requirements.
Strategic Manufacturing Support: Partner with procurement and Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to optimize DFM/DFA processes and ensure scalable production.
Documentation Standards: Establish and maintain rigorous standards for lab notes and design documentation throughout the entire product development cycle.
AI & Automation Strategy: Architect Python-based test automation frameworks and integrate AI tools to revolutionize schematic generation and predictive component selection.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of related work experience.
Technical Core:
Strong knowledge of microelectronics, electrical power systems, and circuit theories.
Experience with high-speed multi-gigabit digital system design.
Proficiency with schematic and PCB layout tools.
Tools: Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, function generators, etc.) and simulation tools like HyperLynx or PSPICE.
Proficiency in Cadence (Allegro/OrCAD) or other ECAD software
Preferred Skills & Experience
High-Speed Expertise: Demonstrated experience in high-speed Ku/Ka/Q band design.
Memory Design: Proven experience with DDR memory design (DDR3/DDR4/DDR5), including length matching, impedance control, and topology constraints
Strong knowledge of various protocols, including Ethernet, SPI, LVDS, RS232, RS422 etc
Strong knowledge of general power supply components
Experience in FPGA design and microprocessors is a plus
Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate ideas with engineers, vendors, and customers
Strong analytical and organizational skills, coupled with well-focused details
Proficiency in Python for engineering applications and familiarity with AI-assisted design platforms.
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on computers.
Continually required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
Must be able to lift up to at least 25 pounds at times.
Ability to traverse to multiple locations.
