Overview:

Excelsior Design, Inc. (EDI) is seeking candidates to fill an experienced electrical engineering position in the Richland, Washington, Office. In this position, the candidate will lead/perform duties in low-voltage (<600 VAC) power distribution design as well as lighting design. Candidate must be self-motivated, have a strong willingness to learn, provide mentorship to less experienced engineers, be able to work independently as well as with a multi-disciplined team, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.


Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Responsibilities will include, as a licensed engineer, providing direct supervision of other electrical engineers and electrical designers/drafters to develop design media for low voltage power distribution systems and lighting systems in accordance with industry codes and standards as well as client-specific requirements. The candidate will be responsible for the development and/or review of design media that will be issued for construction. The candidate will also perform the role of technical lead on multidisciplinary projects. Design media may include, but is not limited to:

· Power distribution system electrical calculations to support the basis of design

· Lighting calculations

· Electrical one-line diagrams

· Power plans and elevations

· Wiring diagrams

· Connection/interconnection drawings

· Electrical elementary diagrams

· Lighting plans and luminaire schedules

· Electrical installation details

· Procurement specifications

· Construction specifications

This position will also involve providing support during construction/start-up and testing phases of projects, including procurement support, submittal reviews, responding to requests for information, documenting engineering changes, and writing acceptance test procedures.


Required Qualifications:


· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university with 5 - 15 years of design experience is required.

· Professional Engineer License in the State of Washington.

· Demonstrate a working knowledge of NFPA 70, National Electrical Code.

· Candidate must be local to the region and have direct Department of Energy Hanford Site experience.

· Demonstrate the legal right to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications:


· Formal training or extensive use of electrical engineering design software such as Visual Lighting Software.

· Formal training or extensive use of SKM Power Tools for Windows.

· Field work, troubleshooting and testing experience.
