Starting Salary: 12 to 20 Lakhs CTC for hands-on experienced candidates + ESOP for candidates with current CTC of more than 20 Lakhs
What You Will Do
Electromagnetic Design
Design BLDC motor topology (slotted and slotless variants) for specified torque, speed, power, and efficiency targets
Perform magnetic flux design considering all constraints, air gap dimensions, back iron saturation, magnet grade and geometry, winding configuration, slot-pole combination
Optimize winding design for minimal copper loss, cogging torque, and back-EMF harmonic distortion
Validate designs analytically and through simulation before physical prototype
Thermal Analysis
Perform steady-state and transient thermal analysis of motor assemblies under continuous and peak load conditions
Design thermal management strategy, heat flow paths, cooling provisions, and material selection to maximize sustained power output without derating
Evaluate the impact of epoxy vacuum potting on winding thermal conductivity for space-grade motor variants
Correlate simulation results with measured temperatures during prototype testing
Structural and Mechanical Design Inputs
Provide electromagnetic design inputs to structural engineers for structure design, bearing preload, and housing geometry analysis
Evaluate the impact of centrifugal stress on rotor back iron and magnet retention at operating speed
Advise on material selection and manufacturing for the rotor, stator, and housing based on electromagnetic, thermal, and structural requirements.
Simulation and Software
Run and interpret electromagnetic FEA simulations, 2D and 3D static, transient, and motion-coupled analysis
Perform motor sizing and performance prediction using dedicated motor design tools
Build and validate simulation models against physical test data
Work with both commercial and open-source tools as appropriate for the task
Prototype and Production Support
Support winding and assembly of motor prototypes in-house
Define manufacturing tolerances and test specifications for contract manufacturer

Support transition from prototype to production, DFM review, tooling decisions, BOM optimization
Design Documentation
Produce design specifications, analysis reports, and test plans
Maintain design traceability from customer requirement to validated motor parameter
What We Are Looking For
Education
B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical & Electronics Engineering- essential
M.Tech / M.Sc / M.E. in Electromagnetics - preferred
PhD in motor design, electromagnetics, or related field - welcome
Freshers with strong project or internship experience in motor design are encouraged to apply
Experience
Min 5 years of hands-on experience developing an electric motor from initial electromagnetic design through prototype testing and into production - essential for experienced candidates
For freshers and postgraduate students: demonstrated project or thesis work in motor design, electromagnetic simulation, or EV powertrain is accepted in lieu of industry experience
Experience with permanent magnet BLDC or PMSM motor design specifically - preferred
Experience with outer rotor motor configurations - a strong advantage
Exposure to space-grade or aerospace-grade hardware - a bonus but not required
Software Skills - Essential
MotorCAD - for integrated electromagnetic, thermal, and mechanical motor design
Ansys Maxwell or equivalent open-source FEA tool (FEMM, JMAG, Opera) - for 2D/3D electromagnetic simulation
MATLAB / Simulink - for motor performance modeling and control simulation
Motor control simulation tools - FOC implementation in Simulink or equivalent
Technical Knowledge
Deep understanding of BLDC / PMSM / Synchronous electromagnetic design principles: slot-pole selection, winding factors, magnetic circuit design
Thermal equivalent circuit modeling of motor windings, stator, and housing
Working knowledge of permanent magnet grades, demagnetization risk, and temperature effects
Understanding of bearing systems, rotor dynamics, and critical speed considerations for high-RPM motors
Knowledge of epoxy impregnation/vacuum potting processes and their effect on winding thermal and mechanical properties
Familiarity with motor manufacturing processes: stamping, winding, casting, balancing
What We Offer
Direct access to the founding team and full ownership of motor design decisions
Work on both space-grade and EV motor variants - rare dual-domain exposure in one role
Exposure to the full product lifecycle - from blank-sheet design to prototype to production
Collaborative environment with ISRO advisors and academic research partners
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
ESOP participation for candidates who demonstrate exceptional contribution
