Senior Design Engineer – Automotive Tier 1 Supplier
Location: Novi, Michigan (Hybrid/Flexible Schedule)
A global Tier 1 automotive supplier specializing in advanced vehicle communication and connectivity systems is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join its Mechanical Design Team.
This organization partners directly with major automotive OEMs to develop innovative vehicle technologies supporting next-generation mobility, connectivity, and vehicle integration programs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead engineering activities for new and existing automotive product development programs
• Serve as the primary engineering interface with customers and cross-functional internal teams
• Manage product development from concept through production launch
• Create and review engineering drawings, DFMEA, DVP&R, GD&T documentation, and design reviews
• Support APQP activities, prototype builds, testing, and manufacturing launch timing
• Drive value engineering/value analysis (VA/VE), cost optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Mentor and support junior engineers within the design organization
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 7–10 years of automotive engineering experience
• Strong background in product design, launch support, and APQP processes
• Experience with 2D/3D CAD systems
• Knowledge of DFMEA, GD&T, manufacturing processes, and engineering change management
• Strong communication and customer-facing leadership skills
• Tier 1 supplier and OEM experience highly preferred
