Key Responsibilities:
Handle end-to-end New Product Development (NPD) and existing product improvement activities.
Develop product concepts, 3D models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
Convert customer requirements, technical specifications, and RFQs into practical engineering designs.
Prepare and review 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, specifications, and design documentation.
Apply GD&T, DFM, DFA, Design Optimization, and Value Engineering principles.
Select suitable materials, manufacturing processes, and components based on product requirements, cost, quality, and manufacturability.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, Purchase, Service, and other departments during product development.
Lead prototype development, assembly trials, testing, validation, and design verification.
Identify and resolve design, manufacturing, assembly, and technical issues during prototype and production stages.
Conduct design reviews and implement necessary design modifications based on testing, customer feedback, and production requirements.
Support cost reduction, design optimization, quality improvement, and process improvement initiatives.
Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards, safety requirements, customer specifications, and company procedures.
Coordinate with customers for technical clarification, design requirements, specifications, and project-related discussions.
Prepare technical inputs, cost estimates, and design-related information for quotations and proposals.
Maintain accurate drawings, BOMs, revision records, project files, and other engineering documentation.
Support prototype and production trials and coordinate with Production and Quality teams to resolve design-related issues.
Guide and support junior design engineers and team members in modelling, drawing preparation, GD&T, and design practices.
Support ISO documentation, internal/external audits, and compliance related to the Design and Engineering function.
Monitor assigned project activities, timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely completion.
Identify opportunities for improving product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure proper design knowledge transfer and documentation throughout the product development lifecycle.
SolidWorks & Technical Skills
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks 3D modelling, assembly design, and 2D engineering drawings.
Strong knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawing standards.
Good understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
Practical knowledge of machining, fabrication, sheet metal, welding, and assembly.
Experience in prototype development, testing, validation, and design verification.
Knowledge of DFM, DFA, Value Engineering, and Design Optimization.
Ability to perform design modifications and troubleshoot engineering issues.
Knowledge of engineering standards and product safety requirements.
Ability to prepare accurate BOMs, specifications, and engineering documentation.
Required Skills

Preferred Profile
Experience in R&D, Product Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, or New Product Development.
Experience in complete product development cycles.
Qualification
B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.
M.E. / M.Tech in Mechanical / Design Engineering is preferred.
Experience
6–8 years of relevant experience in Product Design, R&D, Engineering, or New Product Development.
Strong hands-on experience in SolidWorks and mechanical product design.
Proven experience in prototype development and taking products from concept to production.
Experience in guiding junior design engineers and handling design projects independently.
