Job Opportunity:
Seeking an experienced Design Engineer to assist with the design, development, and continuous improvement of Emergency Response Vehicles. This role is within the engineering department and works closely with production, procurement, regulatory, and customer service teams to ensure vehicles meet customer requirements, industry standards, and manufacturing best practices.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and develop Emergency Response Vehicle layouts, structures, and systems from concept through production
Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, detailed engineering designs, drawings, and prints
Ensure designs comply with KKK-A-1822F, CASS GVS V4.0, NFPA, FMVSS, and other applicable regulatory standards
Collaborate with production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, serviceable, and cost-effective
Support new product introduction (NPI) and engineering change processes
Perform engineering analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and fit/function evaluations
Assist with bill of materials (BOM) creation, maintenance, and cost optimization
Provide technical support for production issues, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Work with suppliers and vendors on component design, integration, and validation
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to quality, safety, and efficiency
Work with customer service as needed to assist in solving customer issues

Required Qualifications & Skills:
5+ years of experience in vehicle, specialty vehicle, or automotive product design
Demonstrated experience designing Emergency/specialty vehicles
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
Metal fabrication knowledge or experience (forming and welding)
Knowledge or experience in crash testing
Strong understanding of vehicle systems, structures, and electrical/mechanical integration
Ability to interpret and apply engineering standards and regulatory requirements
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Critical thinking, Problem solving, Perspective-taking, and attention to detail
High level of professionalism and ethical conduct
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work across departments
Computer literacy in operating systems, spreadsheets, documentation, and cloud-based collaboration tools
