π Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design & Estimation Engineer to join our engineering team. In this dual-faceted role, you will be responsible for leading the design and development of customized overhead cranes and hoists while executing precise cost estimation and technical proposals for new inquiries and tenders.
An ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in designing Single/Double Girder EOT cranes, Gantry cranes, Jib cranes, and electric wire rope hoists in compliance with relevant Indian and International standards (IS 3177, IS 807, IS 3938, FEM, DIN). You will bridge the gap between initial client requirements and final product manufacturing by ensuring structurally sound, cost-effective, and highly competitive designs.
π οΈ Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering (Mechanical & Structural)
Custom Crane Design: Design and engineer Single Girder EOT, Double Girder EOT, Gantry, Jib, and Underslung cranes as per client specifications and duty classes (M3 to M8).
Hoist & Winch Systems: Optimize designs for Electric Wire Rope Hoists, Chain Hoists, Flame Proof Hoists, and Electrical Winches.
Standards Compliance: Ensure all mechanical and structural designs strictly adhere to relevant standards such as IS 3177, IS 807, IS 3938, and FEM guidelines.
Detailed Drawings: Generate 2D fabrication drawings, GA (General Arrangement) drawings, 3D models, and Bill of Materials (BOM) using CAD Softwares.
Engineering Calculations: Perform rigorous structural calculations for box-type and I-beam crane girders, end carriages, crab structures, wheel loads, and hoist mechanisms.
Component Selection: Select critical mechanical components like motors, gearboxes, brakes, wire ropes, and coupling systems based on load criteria.
2. Cost Estimation & Proposals
RFQ & Tender Review: Analyse incoming RFQs, technical specifications, and industrial tender documents from diverse industries (Automotive, Steel, Heavy Fabrication, Foundry, etc.).
Cost Estimation: Formulate accurate costing of cranes and hoists by calculating raw material costs (steel plates, structural sections), manufactured parts, and bought-out components.
BOQ Preparation: Create detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and price breakups for production and sales tracking.
Techno-Commercial Proposals: Prepare and draft competitive technical proposals, GA drawings for bidding, and support the sales team in technical discussions and negotiations with clients.
Vendor Coordination: Collaborate with the procurement team to obtain vendor quotes for specialized accessories (e.g., DSL bus bar systems, radio remote controls, variable frequency drives).

Education & Experience
Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Experience: Minimum of 5β8 years of dedicated experience in the design and cost estimation of overhead cranes and electric wire rope hoists.
Software & Technical Skills
Design Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D) and SolidWorks / Inventor (3D modeling).
Analysis Software: Exposure to structural analysis tools like ANSYS or STAAD.Pro is highly desirable.
Estimation Tools: Advanced mastery of MS Excel for preparing complex pricing calculators and estimation sheets.
Industry Standards: Deep-rooted knowledge of IS 3177, IS 807, and IS 3938 codes.
Core Competencies
Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Clear understanding of fabrication processes, welding symbols, and machining tolerances.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Sales, and Procurement departments to align on delivery timelines and cost targets.
