Piper Companies is seeking a Senior Data QA Engineer to join an established organization in the luxury travel and hospitality technology space for a fully remote, permanent opportunity aligned to the EST/CT time zone. The Senior Data QA Engineer will play a critical role in owning data quality strategy and hands-on validation efforts for a modern, cloud-based analytics platform supporting global booking operations.
Responsibilities of the Senior Data QA Engineer include:
Define and lead an end-to-end data quality and validation strategy across cloud-based ETL/ELT pipelines, transformations, and analytical models.
Design, build, and maintain automated data tests and regression suites using SQL, Python, and modern data QA frameworks.
Implement monitoring and observability checks to proactively detect issues related to freshness, volume, schema changes, and anomalies.
Partner closely with data engineers, architects, and BI stakeholders to investigate defects, validate fixes, and ensure reliable downstream reporting.
Provide senior-level ownership by mentoring team members, reviewing test logic, and establishing scalable QA standards in a lean environment.
Qualifications for the Senior Data QA Engineer include:
5+ years of experience testing and validating data systems, including pipelines, transformations, and analytical models.
Hands-on expertise with SQL and Python, with the ability to debug complex data issues independently.
Experience working in cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Azure, with exposure to Fabric, Snowflake, or Databricks.
Background in small or fast-moving teams, demonstrating leadership, autonomy, and the ability to operate without heavy direction.
Familiarity with CI/CD processes, data QA or observability tools, and business intelligence platforms.
Compensation for the Senior Data QA Engineer:
Salary Range: $100,000-$130,000/year (USD)
