Position Summary
The Senior AV Designer, is responsible for developing advanced audio-visual system designs from initial concept through implementation, using industry-standard design tools. The role involves close collaboration with clients and internal teams to translate requirements into detailed, buildable AV solutions while ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Develop complete AV system designs, including signal flow diagrams, equipment layouts, and system schematics.
Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and installation teams to define requirements and align technical solutions with project goals.
Prepare and maintain design documentation, bills of materials, and as-built drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, codes, and best practices, including AV industry, safety, and installation guidelines.
Support project delivery by providing technical guidance during installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Mentor and support junior designers and drafters, reviewing their work for accuracy and constructability.
Stay current with emerging AV technologies, products, and trends, and incorporate appropriate innovations into system designs.
Qualifications
Expertise in AV system design, signal flow, and system integration across diverse environments (e.g., corporate, education, healthcare, or public spaces).
Proficiency with CAD and related AV design tools for creating schematics, layouts, and documentation.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and cross-functional teams.
Experience with project management fundamentals, including documentation control, coordination with stakeholders, and schedule management.
Comprehensive knowledge of current AV industry trends, equipment types, and installation standards.
Certified Technology Specialist – Design (CTS-D) credential required.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (such as engineering, technology, or design) or equivalent work experience.
Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
