Senior AV Design Engineer (On-Site)
Location: Frederick, MD area
Position Type: Full-Time / On-Site
Base Salary: $95,000 – $125,000+ (commensurate with experience) + Annual Bonus

We are seeking a Senior AV Design Engineer to join our team on-site. In this key technical leadership role, you will own projects from initial concept through engineering design, commissioning, and final execution.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Design: Translate client requirements and project scope into comprehensive CAD/Visio signal flow drawings, riser diagrams, and detailed equipment lists.
Technical Calculations: Accurately calculate heat loads, power consumption/loads, conduit capacities, and structural requirements for complex AV integrations.
Commissioning & Troubleshooting: Perform system commissioning, advanced troubleshooting, and optimization on-site prior to final handover.
Control Systems Integration: Interface with and design systems using control platforms such as Crestron, Q-SYS, Extron, and FireAmp.
Mentorship & Leadership: Serve as a technical subject matter expert, guiding and mentoring junior engineering and field staff through complex technical challenges.
End-to-End Delivery: Collaborate closely with sales, project management, and field technicians to ensure seamless project execution from scope through sign-off.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certification: CTS-D (Certified Technology Specialist – Design) strongly preferred.
Experience: Proven track record designing commercial AV systems across diverse verticals (corporate, higher ed, healthcare, house of worship).
Technical Skills: Deep familiarity with heat/power load calculations, control system architectures (Q-SYS, Crestron, Extron), and audio DSP setup/programming.
In-Office Collaboration: Willingness to work on-site 5 days a week at our state-of-the-art facility to collaborate closely with the physical design and build teams.
Soft Skills: Excellent client-facing communication, team-first attitude, and strong leadership capabilities.
