Resource 1 is seeking an experienced RPG Developer for a 100% remote contract opportunity. This engagement is scheduled to begin as a 12-month contract, with extensions anticipated.
This position will focus primarily on the maintenance, support, and enhancement of existing applications within an Infor XA MAPICS manufacturing environment, with some new development as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting legacy IBM i / AS400 systems while also working with more modern RPG development approaches.
We are looking for someone with a strong mix of traditional and modern RPG development skills, including RPG ILE, RPGIV, and Free Form. Experience in manufacturing environments is highly preferred and can supplement the lack of direct Infor XA MAPICS experience.
Responsibilities
Maintain, support, and enhance existing applications in an IBM i / AS400 environment
Support ERP and manufacturing-related applications within an Infor XA MAPICS environment
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
Develop and modify RPG-based programs, service programs, and related components
Work closely with business users and technical teams to implement enhancements and fixes
Support ongoing modernization efforts involving Free Form RPG and embedded SQL
Participate in testing, documentation, and deployment activities
Required Skills
IBM i / AS400 RPG development experience
Strong experience with:
RPG ILE / RPGIV
Free Form RPG
Service Programs
Embedded SQL
Experience supporting and enhancing existing enterprise applications
Experience with Query/400
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Skills
Experience with Infor XA MAPICS development and support
Manufacturing industry experience
Experience with fixed-format RPG and screen file maintenance programs
Experience with RDi (Rational Developer for i)
Experience with DB2, CL, XML, or CGI development
HTML and JavaScript experience
Experience with barcoding solutions or GUI-related integrations
Windows and door manufacturing industry experience is a major plus
