Senior RF Systems Engineer – Space Radar Payloads

Are you passionate about designing cutting-edge radar technology for space applications?

We're partnering with an innovative space company developing advanced Earth observation capabilities and are looking for an experienced RF Systems Engineer to take ownership of the design, development and performance of next-generation Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) payloads.

This is a unique opportunity to work across the full payload lifecycle, from system architecture and RF design through to satellite operations and ground processing, helping deliver mission-critical capabilities that operate day or night, in all weather conditions.

What You'll Be Doing

Lead the RF design and technical ownership of advanced SAR payloads.
Develop payload concepts of operations (CONOPS), considering spacecraft constraints including power, thermal performance, attitude control and mission operations.
Collaborate with systems, software, FPGA and payload teams to deliver high-performance radar solutions.
Design and validate complex RF subsystems including high-speed digitizers, low-noise RF circuits, antennas and phased array technologies.
Support SAR testing, calibration and image collection activities.
Develop and optimise ground processing solutions for radar data.
Perform RF and microwave analysis using Python and modern engineering tools.
Define subsystem requirements and flow these into detailed engineering requirements.
Produce technical documentation and contribute to customer proposals and technical capture activities.

What We're Looking For

Degree (Master's preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience designing RF systems for radar, aerospace or satellite applications.
Strong understanding of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) theory and implementation.
Experience with RF system design, microwave engineering and antenna analysis.
Proficiency with Python for engineering analysis and automation.
Strong background in signal processing and RF/IQ data analysis.
Experience working with complex radar datasets and signal processing workflows.
Familiarity with satellite payloads, ground systems or remote sensing is highly desirable.
Exposure to FPGAs, embedded processors or high-speed digital systems is a plus.
Knowledge of C/C++, CUDA, PyTorch, NumPy or SciPy would be advantageous.
Ability to work independently, solve complex technical problems and drive projects from concept through delivery.

Why Join?

You'll play a key role in shaping next-generation radar payload technology within a fast-moving space environment, working alongside experts across RF, spacecraft systems, software and mission operations. If you're looking for the opportunity to own challenging technical problems, influence system architecture and contribute to technology with real-world impact, we'd love to hear from you.
