What To Expect
Our team test and qualify Tesla’s large-format in-house cells for electrochemical performance and product reliability. We work with Cell Manufacturing team and other cross functional teams to deepen our understanding of our battery cells and to improve product performance. We develop cycle life test plans to evaluate battery performance over time and monitor capacity fade and impedance growth, set up new fixtures and execute the plan that enables battery cell performance.
What You'll Do
We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate professionals to work on disruptive cutting-edge battery electrode technology that enables Tesla electric vehicles and energy storage systems to be more efficient and reliable
Be the Reliability testing owner of the team, tying mechanical-based testing with electrochemical tests. Partner with cell design and quality teams to execute trials that capture impact of edge case scenarios and contribute to holistically improving Tesla’s In-house cells
In this role, you will execute and shepherd lithium-ion cell tests using cell cycling equipment, temperature control fixtures and circulators
This role will also write test plans, propose design of experiments, summarize results in test reports, and ensure the highest possible data integrity from the lab
Mentor direct and larger team members in the science of cell characterizations and reliability engineering
It is essential to be able to plan, prioritize, and communicate status of lab testing activities to hit project deadlines
Be a member of a cross functional product development team to help determine the ideal cell design for Tesla products
What You'll Bring
Degree or relevant experience in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related field
