Job Title: 4G/5G RAN Test Engineer III
Location: Plano, TX
Key Responsibilities:
Lead product and feature validation, system testing, and performance analysis for LTE and 5G RAN products, with a focus on air interface, end-to-end performance, and call processing
Execute test cases in customer lab environments; create detailed reports and present findings to stakeholders
Analyze product and feature requirements and translate them into system-level test cases to ensure alignment with customer specifications
Support evaluation of new product features and software releases, including performance analysis and optimization
Perform detailed analysis of 4G and 5G wireless protocols and troubleshoot complex technical issues
Conduct customer review sessions and provide technical guidance on new products and services
Ensure delivery of customer commitments in line with project timelines
Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of 4G and 5G concepts, including DL/UL scheduling, LTE power control, beamforming, MIMO, and ENDC
Deep knowledge of RAN architecture, air interface, and call processing technologies
Solid understanding of wireless protocol layers: PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, and PDCP
Hands-on experience with system testing: feature validation, test case development, performance analysis, parameter optimization, and troubleshooting
Experience with lab testing and IOT testing (preferred)
Familiarity with IOT technologies such as eMTC, NB-IoT, and interfaces like S1 and X2
Experience with EMS systems, network element management, software upgrades, and MOP verification
Proficiency with tools such as XCAL, QXDM, Wireshark, protocol analyzers, channel emulators, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators
Understanding of 3GPP standards and ongoing release activities
Knowledge of hardware and software architecture; software development experience is a plus
Willingness to travel as needed
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or related field (required)
8–10 years of relevant experience (or Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience preferred)
