About The Company
Komatsu Mining Technology Solutions is a global leader in the development and deployment of advanced mining equipment and technology. Renowned for its innovative approach, the company specializes in creating cutting-edge solutions that enhance mining efficiency, safety, and sustainability. With a strong focus on research and development, Komatsu continuously pushes the boundaries of technology to address the evolving needs of the mining industry. Its Modular brand solutions and Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) exemplify its commitment to pioneering autonomous and intelligent systems that transform traditional mining operations worldwide.
About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Test Engineer to join our Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) Product Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive automation frameworks to ensure the highest quality standards for our autonomous fleet management solutions. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and field teams to develop robust testing strategies that cover functional, performance, security, and failover aspects of our systems. Your expertise will be essential in driving a shift-left testing culture, automating manual tests, and continuously improving our testing processes to support our mission of delivering innovative, reliable, and safe autonomous mining technologies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software or Systems Engineering, or related discipline (Master’s preferred)
Minimum of 4 years of experience in software or systems testing, with at least 2 years focused on test automation at scale
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, or C#
Experience with REST/gRPC API testing and UI automation
Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code for on-demand testing environments
Strong understanding of distributed, real-time, or complex systems testing strategies
Ability to manage projects from requirements scoping through to production deployment
Excellent analytical, documentation, and cross-functional communication skills
Willingness to travel internationally up to 10%
Responsibilities
Maintain a deep understanding of AHS architecture, dependencies, and safety constraints; develop risk-based test plans and automated coverage strategies
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to extract, refine, and document both functional and non-functional requirements with measurable acceptance criteria
Develop, implement, and continuously improve automated testing frameworks; integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines using infrastructure as code
Lead efforts to embed testing early in the development lifecycle, manage test data versioning, and maintain regression test suites for every code merge
Design and execute manual exploratory and edge case testing; automate repetitive tests to improve efficiency
Create and publish dashboards tracking testing metrics such as pass/fail trends, defect escape rates, and mean time to repair (MTTR)
Facilitate blameless postmortems, identify systemic issues, and implement automated checks to prevent recurrence
Support field teams during installation, configuration, and on-site validation activities
Mentor junior QA engineers, promote coding standards, and pilot new tools or methodologies to enhance team productivity and product quality
Support compatibility matrices and deployment configurations, ensuring seamless integration across environments
Occasionally travel internationally to support field operations and project deployments
Benefits
Competitive salary and comprehensive health benefits
Opportunities for professional development and continuous learning
Collaborative and innovative work environment
Global exposure through international projects and travel opportunities
Support for work-life balance and flexible working arrangements
Participation in cutting-edge autonomous mining technology development
