Note: If offshore, you must be available at least 3 hours/day during Pacific Standard Time
About the Role
We are looking for a QA Tester to join our team and help ensure the quality of our game distribution platform. You will focus on functional testing from the perspectives of both game developers using our platform tools and end user players engaging with games and community features. Apply your skills in manual testing, test case design, bug reporting, and clear documentation within Agile processes. This role works across the product, contributing to core platform features, developer tooling, and player-facing experiences.
You will collaborate with product and engineering, help ship reliable features used by real developers and players, and support the platform as we move through Alpha and beyond. Reporting to VP Product.
Haiven is located in the United States. You must be available at least 3 hours daily PST for manager and team communication and collaborations.
What You'll Do
● Design, write, and execute functional test cases and exploratory tests for our platform
● Test core workflows from both game developer perspectives (game submission, store page creation, dashboard tools, analytics) and player perspectives (discovery, browsing, downloads, community interactions). Create AI automation as appropriate for testing
● Identify, document, and track bugs with clear reproduction steps, expected vs actual behavior, and severity assessment using our tracking tools
● Research, propose, develop and refine an initial agentic automated test harness
● Collaborate with product and engineering teams to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and confirm quality before feature releases
● Perform cross-browser, cross-device, and basic compatibility testing
● Participate in test planning, sprint ceremonies, and release validation activities
● Contribute to improving QA documentation, test processes, and knowledgebase
Who You Are
● 1 to 2 years of professional software QA, testing, or quality assurance experience (relevant internships, personal projects, gaming community testing, or bootcamps)
● Experience performing manual functional testing and exploratory testing on web applications or platforms
● Familiarity with bug tracking tools such as Jira, GitHub Issues, Linear, or similar systems
● Familiarity with software languages, including Python, Go, Javascript or similar
● Experience testing web apps across multiple browsers, operating systems, and devices
● Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to think like both a developer building tools and an end user player
● Passion for or regular experience playing video games, with awareness of common player frustrations and what makes games engaging
● Ability to work independently, manage testing priorities, and communicate findings clearly and professionally in written English
● Comfortable in a small, fast-moving team where you take ownership of quality assurance
● Demonstrated ability to communicate testing results, bug details, and recommendations effectively in English
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience in the gaming industry, game development pipelines, or testing game-related platforms and tools
● Prior experience testing marketplaces, community platforms, developer dashboards, or similar two-sided products
● Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies and working in sprint-based teams
● Familiarity and use of agentic AI (Claude, Grok) to create automated QA processes
● Basic understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to help diagnose and describe frontend issues
● Experience in a startup or small team environment
● Video game player with insight into indie developer and publishing and player behavior
