About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Software Quality Assurance Tester to join our remote team. This role involves developing and executing comprehensive test strategies for web-based applications, ensuring their functionality, performance, security, and accessibility meet rigorous standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manual testing, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering high-quality software. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with a preference for candidates located in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC, due to occasional on-site meetings at our client’s headquarters in Baltimore. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure requirements are testable, complete, and clearly understood, contributing to the continuous improvement of our testing processes and product quality.
Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of experience in software quality assurance, testing, or related roles within enterprise or federal environments.
Proven experience performing manual testing of web-based applications.
Extensive knowledge of accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG 2.2, with experience validating user interfaces for compliance.
Experience working within Agile development frameworks and participating in iterative delivery cycles.
Experience testing APIs, system integrations, and data workflows is highly desirable.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, document, and track defects effectively.
Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira, TestRail, or similar.
Experience supporting compliance frameworks is highly desirable.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Practical application skills with the ability to perform tasks independently with occasional expert guidance.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute detailed test strategies, plans, and test cases to validate system functionality, performance, security, and accessibility.
Perform manual testing of web-based applications to ensure they meet quality standards and user expectations.
Ensure applications comply with accessibility standards such as Section 508 and WCAG 2.2, validating the user experience across diverse user groups.
Identify, document, and track defects, establishing clear reproduction steps and ensuring timely resolution.
Collaborate with developers and business analysts to review requirements, ensuring they are testable, complete, and well-understood.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and sprint reviews to facilitate continuous improvement.
Monitor quality trends and provide actionable recommendations to enhance system reliability and reduce defect rates.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of test cases, test results, and quality metrics to support transparency and reporting efforts.
