Hi! We’re PocketSuite!
PocketSuite is a YC-backed mobile platform for service businesses — fitness trainers, home cleaners, dog walkers, beauticians, therapists, life coaches, etc. — helping them monetize their calendar. PocketSuite empowers the U.S. market of 20 million service professionals generating $800 billion in sales with a mobile cloud solution for running their business. Thousands of businesses run on and over 250,000 clients book and pay their Pros on PocketSuite today and we’re growing fast.
PocketSuite lets any small business owner run their business entirely over text. On average our customers are paid in under 24 hours, grow income by 30% within a few months of joining PocketSuite, and spend fewer hours per day on scheduling and payment collection after switching to PocketSuite. From calendar sync to appointment confirmation to contract e-signatures to text message auto-reminders, PocketSuite is both easy to use and capable of eliminating meaningless work so service professionals can do more of what they love. If you can send text messages, you can use PocketSuite.
Our Values ⚖️
Engineers and product obsessed — we loathe over-engineering, we cringe anytime a customer reports a bug and we release new versions every 2 weeks.
We love our customers — solving their problems and helping them grow and succeed in a rapidly changing world. Oh yeah we also love their 5 star reviews.
We love disrupting the status quo — we believe everyone globally in the industries we’re going after will be using a mobile app as their primary business tool.
We understand that it is critical to measure what matters. So we don’t take victory laps nor do we pause to take a break unless the scoreboard reflects that we are #winning as it relates to our customer delight and growth goals.
We don’t just think of this as a job. In our spare time, this is what we do and who we are. Our obsession with small business, fintech, smart growth, and cool apps is a 24/7 thing.
We believe only three things matter as we build out our business: building a great product, delivering awesome customer service, and a killer instinct for activating and engaging new users.
Who are we looking for 😎
We’re looking for a QA Engineer who can own our entire quality function — not inherit a process, but build one. PocketSuite releases on a two-week cadence across iOS, Android, and web. You’ll be the person who takes a feature spec and Figma designs and independently turns them into a thorough test plan, executes it, and drives issues to resolution — without needing direction on how to get there.
This is a ground-up role. We don’t have a mature regression suite or a robust automation framework yet, that’s the opportunity. We are looking for someone who is energized by that, not slowed down by it. Someone who is comfortable doing disciplined, methodical manual testing today while simultaneously laying the infrastructure for smarter, faster testing tomorrow.
You’ll also be responsible for identifying and implementing AI-powered tools and workflows that reduce the manual bottlenecks in our QA process. We’re not looking for someone who has only operated within established tooling but someone who can evaluate, select, and implement the right tools for a lean startup environment.
The ideal candidate has done this before at a startup. You’ve been the QA function, not just a member of one. You know what it feels like to be the last line of defense before a release, and you take that seriously.
What will you be doing? 💻
Take ownership of the full QA lifecycle: from reading a PRD and Figma designs to writing the test plan, executing it, logging bugs in Jira, verifying fixes, and signing off on the release.
Build and maintain a regression test suite for core platform workflows (payments, scheduling, messaging, client management, forms, contracts).
Identify, evaluate, and implement AI-assisted testing tools to reduce manual testing overhead and increase coverage.
Establish and document QA standards, processes, and templates that scale as the team grows.
Reproduce, prioritize, and verify bugs escalated by the Customer Success team.
Partner closely with Engineering and Product to flag testability gaps early in the development cycle.
Proactively surface risk before releases — not just find bugs, but advocate for the changes needed to prevent them.
What we’re looking for 📄
3–6 years of QA engineering with meaningful time at a startup or small company where you owned significant parts of the QA process independently. Cracked devs and PMs without direct QA experience but understand the basics and want to get their hands dirty are welcome to apply.
Demonstrated experience building a regression suite or test automation framework from scratch — not inheriting and maintaining one.
Deep, patient manual testing instincts — you don’t skip steps, you find the edge cases others miss, and you’re not looking to automate your way out of doing the hard work.
Familiarity with AI-assisted testing tools and an appetite for finding new ways to increase efficiency without sacrificing coverage.
Proficiency with Jira for bug tracking and test management.
Ability to read and interpret Figma designs and translate them into precise test cases.
Experience testing mobile applications on iOS and Android.
Strong written communication skills — your bug reports are clear, reproducible, and actionable without needing follow-up.
Comfortable working asynchronously and independently in a remote environment.
Able to overlap with US East Coast hours for key meetings and release cycles.
Nice to have:
Experience testing fintech, payment processing, or HIPAA-compliant platforms.
Familiarity with tools like Playwrite, Appium, or ready-made recommendations for other tools
Experience with no-code or low-code automation in a resource-constrained environment.
