Piper Companies is seeking a remote QA Engineer to support software testing and quality assurance efforts within a growing development team.This role will focus on manual testing, test case development, and defect identification, while partnering closely with developers and senior QA team members to ensure high-quality software delivery. This is a hands-on role for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving processes and tools.
Key Responsibilities
Execute manual testing on new and existing software features
Write, review, and maintain detailed test cases and test plans
Collaborate with senior QA team members to validate test coverage and approach
Identify, document, and track bugs and defects throughout the development lifecycle
Perform API and data validation testing using SQL and JSON
Work closely with development teams to validate fixes and enhancements
Contribute to overall QA processes and continuous improvement initiatives
Proactively test applications from multiple angles to ensure functionality and performance
Required Qualifications (Non‑Negotiable)
2–4 years of experience in manual QA testing
Strong experience with SQL for data validation and testing
Experience working with JSON data structures
Experience writing and executing test cases
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects
Self-starter with strong communication skills and ability to learn quickly
Preferred Qualifications
Experience testing Web APIs
Experience with Azure DevOps or Jira for test management and defect tracking
Exposure to Agile or SDLC environments
Compensation:
Hourly Rate: $40 – $52/hour (contract)
Conversion Salary: $80,000 – $95,000 annually
This is a 6-month contract-to-hire position.
Remote opportunity (preference for candidates located in the Tri-State area).
