One of our software development teams for aerostructures simulation at Simcenter 3D is looking for a software test engineer (QAE) to support them in quality assurance.
Simcenter 3D is a comprehensive, fully integrated CAE solution for complex, multidisciplinary product performance engineering. The software delivers revolutionary improvements in simulation efficiency. With sophisticated 3D modeling capabilities and simulation solvers that cover a comprehensive range of physics, Simcenter 3D helps our customers to gain better insight into their product’s overall performance.
Responsibilities:
As a member of an AGILE team, you work in very close collaboration with the other team members.
You will participate in all team meetings and effectively engage in the planning process and contribute to the team’s goals of each sprint. It is encouraged that each team member readily supports on another to reach that goal. Good communication skills are vital in this position.
Your main responsibility will be ensuring the quality of the deliveries of your team by developing and implementing test plans for both automation and manual testing.
Manual testing of new functionality
Collect information from developers and product owners to understand the use case
Plan testing effort, document coverage
Develop and document test plans and manual testing procedures to verify that our software products and releases meet the established functionality and performance goals.
Solve to isolate problems and document results
Test the products, document and communicate the results of that testing
Sign-off for quality on the features assigned to your scrum team.
Present new functionality in customer review meetings
Manual regression testing: scripted and unscripted
Installation testing on Windows and Linux
Complete user workflow tests
License testing
Report bugs and usability concerns.
Build bug reports with clear instructions and all the needed input data for the developer to investigate the issue. Follow-up closely to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
Follow up on resolved bugs, ensure that the fixes are implemented accurately
Create automated regression testing.
Use python scripting language to generate automatic regression tests
Review results from nightly runs, maintain existing tests
After initial training: review current manual testing procedures and extend the automation
Effectively work with a globally dispersed team
Participate effectively in cross-functional teams
Required Knowledge / Skills / Education / Experience:
Educational Level:
Bachelor or Master Engineering Degree or equivalent by experience (mechanical, aerospace, electrical, computer).
To start as software test engineer for Simcenter 3D you should have some user knowledge in CAE software tools (Solid Edge, Solidworks, Inventor, ProEngineer, Star-CCM etc).
It would be even better if you have experience with:
Hands on experience in automation or manual testing on enterprise applications
Aerospace engineering
Agile team
Testing: Pre-processing and solver
Simcenter 3D
As a software tester your will work with Microsoft Windows and Linux.
We expect advanced user knowledge of Windows and will provide training for Linux.
A big part of the job is to automate manual testing as much as possible.
Those test scripts are created in Python. SIEMENS provides on the job training; it would be beneficial if you already knew one object-oriented programming language.

Experience in managing a multi-platform (Windows / Linux) test environment.
