Description
The Waldinger Corporation is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Des Moines, Iowa team. This role is a great fit for a service professional with refrigeration experience who is ready to take greater ownership of project outcomes and grow into a project management career.
What You’ll Do
Plan & Coordinate Projects: Develop and manage schedules, submit RFIs, control documentation, and coordinate labor and materials to keep refrigeration projects on track and on time.
Support Field Execution: Apply your refrigeration knowledge to review submittals and P&IDs, and provide guidance to field crews on installation sequencing and commissioning procedures.
Drive Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections and startup audits, document issues, and lead corrective action to ensure all work meets specifications and code requirements.
Track Project Costs: Monitor budgets for labor, materials, and equipment; identify savings opportunities and flag variances early to keep projects on budget.
Manage Stakeholder Communication: Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain strong working relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
What You Bring
2-4 years of experience in refrigeration construction, mechanical contracting, or a related field
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar preferred — equivalent experience considered
Working knowledge of commercial or industrial refrigeration systems (CO₂, ammonia, HFCs, or similar)
Ability to read mechanical drawings and equipment submittals
Strong organizational and communication skills
Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites
