About the Role
As part of the CEC, you can receive advanced training and unrivaled hands-on experience in engineering areas to include architecture, construction engineering, environmental engineering, water resources engineering, geotechnical engineering, hydraulic engineering, land surveying, structural engineering, transportation engineering, disaster relief, and community planning. This role allows you to manage and maintain facilities and personnel while allowing you to obtain key skills in project management and strategic planning.
Responsibilities
Oversee construction of everything from runways to dry-docks to buildings of all kind
Supervise and manage utilities and other critical services provided
Manage a variety of skilled construction workers (Seabees)
Arrange budgets and schedules
Approve completed work
More specifically, you will obtain experience in all of the following areas:
Contract Management—Be the primary contact between Navy and civilian contractors, managing contracts worth up to hundreds of millions of dollars. Handle every aspect of a project from overseeing construction to resolving design problems, to ensuring that payments are correctly processed.
Public Works—Assume responsibility for any of the hundreds of Navy shore facilities—some as large as entire cities. Supervise and maintain utilities. Oversee construction and repair, manage budgets, approve public works plans, and provide services to visiting ships.
Construction Battalions—Command up to 600 Enlisted Seabee construction workers in the construction of airfields, bridges, ports or buildings—all in support of both humanitarian outreach and military deployment.
Pay range and compensation package
Competitive salary with benefits adjusted according to location.
Major portions of compensation package is tax-free.

Opportunities for College Students
The CEC Collegiate Program allows you to guarantee yourself employment as soon as you graduate and get paid to go to school. There are no uniforms, no drilling, and no service obligation until you graduate. Simply work toward your degree, earn as you go, and then begin the process of becoming a commissioned Navy CEC Officer.
Benefits obtained while in school:
Earn between $40-70k annual salary (depending on location).
Receive E-6 pay while in college, including BAH and BAS.
Free health insurance for you and your dependents
Qualifications
U.S. citizen, medical screening, legal screening, height/weight standards
Achieved bachelor’s or master's degree from an accredited engineering program (open to all engineering) or accredited architecture degree
Students pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited engineering program (open to all engineering) or accredited architecture degree with 3.0 and no more than three “C’s” in STEM courses
4 year active duty contract upon commissioning

As a Civil Engineer, you can work at Navy bases or ports of call around the globe. You may be deployed to help develop or rebuild areas affected by natural disasters. Your day-to-day work may be indoors, outdoors, in a shop environment or in office surroundings.
