Project Engineer – Commercial Construction
Location: Tempe, AZ
Salary Range: $80,000-$120,000
Position Overview
We are partnering with a well‑established, employee‑owned general contractor based in Arizona that specializes in commercial construction projects ranging from $2M–$10M. They are seeking a Project Engineer to support ongoing and upcoming projects due to growth and a recent team transition.
This role offers strong exposure to the full construction lifecycle, hands‑on jobsite involvement, and a clear path for career advancement in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support Project Managers with day‑to‑day management of commercial construction projects
Review and manage submittals, RFIs, and project documentation
Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Assist with project scheduling, cost tracking, billing, and closeout
Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
Support projects from preconstruction through completion
Maintain strong attention to detail, follow‑up, and documentation accuracy
Work both in the office and field, with an emphasis on jobsite presence
Project Types Include
Commercial ground‑up and tenant improvement projects
Data centers and manufacturing facilities
Renovations in operating hotels and restaurants
Healthcare environments, including cleanrooms and ICRA‑related work
Projects delivered under GMP and CMAR contracts
Team Structure
Reports directly to a Project Manager
Works alongside Project Managers, an Assistant Project Manager, and Senior Project Engineers
Typically supports 2–3 projects at a time, with workload managed to avoid burnout
Qualifications
2+ years of construction or Project Engineer experience preferred, but highly motivated entry‑level candidates will be considered
Experience in a fast‑paced, field‑focused environment is important
Ability to read blueprints and construction documents is required
Familiarity with submittals and project coordination
Software exposure to Procore and MS Project preferred
OSHA 30 and CPR certifications are a plus (can be provided if needed)
Construction Management or related degree preferred but not required

50/50 split between office and field

Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $80,000 – $120,000 (depending on experience)
Bonus potential: 6–10%
Mileage reimbursement provided
