About the Role
We're looking for a senior Project Engineer to join our growing Managed Service Provider team. In this role, you'll be the technical backbone of our client engagements — leading projects from pre-sales scoping through delivery, coordinating technicians and subcontractors, and ensuring our clients receive a seamless, high-quality experience. This is a highly visible role that sits at the intersection of engineering and client relationship management.
Responsibilities:
Project Delivery
Own the end-to-end delivery of IT infrastructure projects, including network deployments, server migrations, cloud transitions, and site buildouts
Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets; proactively identify and mitigate risks
Coordinate and direct internal technicians, field engineers, and third-party vendors throughout the project lifecycle
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for clients during active engagements
Pre-Sales & Scoping
Partner with the sales team to scope new client projects, assess existing environments, and produce accurate Statements of Work (SOWs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
Conduct technical discovery sessions and site surveys to inform solution design
Present project proposals and technical recommendations to client stakeholders
Service Delivery Management
Ensure project outcomes align with contracted scope, SLAs, and client expectations
Facilitate project kick-offs, status updates, and post-implementation reviews with clients
Track and report on project KPIs, resource utilization, and delivery milestones
Identify upsell and expansion opportunities within existing accounts and communicate them to account management
Team Leadership
Mentor and provide technical guidance to Support Engineers working on project tasks
Develop and enforce standards, documentation, and handoff processes to ensure smooth transitions to the managed services team post-deployment
Contribute to internal knowledge base and process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in IT engineering or technical project management, preferably within an MSP environment
Proven track record of independently delivering complex infrastructure projects on time and on budget
Deep knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing/switching, VPN, SD-WAN)
Hands-on experience with server administration — Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Linux
Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox)
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365) and hybrid environment migrations
Experience writing SOWs, BOMs, and project documentation
Strong client-facing communication skills — comfortable presenting to both technical and executive audiences
Highly organized, self-directed, and able to manage multiple concurrent projects
Preferred Certifications:
CompTIA Project+, PMP, or equivalent
Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator or MCSE
Cisco CCNA / CCNP
CompTIA Network+ or Security+
Benefits
Competitive salary commensurate with experience
Health and vision insurance
Paid time off
Sponsored training and certification opportunities
Clear path to senior engineering and leadership roles
