Project Engineer III
Location: Monterey Park, CA (On-site)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the planning, design, construction, and closeout of complex capital improvement and construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical, construction administration, and project coordination experience, with the ability to work effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide engineering and technical support throughout all phases of construction projects.
• Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and client representatives.
• Participate in design meetings, construction meetings, and project coordination sessions.
• Conduct field inspections to verify compliance with plans, specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
• Review and process RFIs, submittals, change orders, construction field orders, and project documentation.
• Assist with contract administration and ensure contractor compliance with project requirements.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress to support on-time and on-budget project delivery.
• Identify project risks, track issues, and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
• Prepare project reports, meeting minutes, status updates, and other project-related documentation.
• Support project closeout activities, including record documentation and turnover requirements.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
• Experienced in Project Engineering, Construction Management, or a related construction role.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, project controls, and construction administration.
• Experience reviewing construction plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
• Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and contract documentation.
• Strong communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with educational, higher education, or public-sector construction projects.
• Experience working on Division of the State Architect (DSA) projects.
• Full project lifecycle experience, including planning, design, construction, and closeout.
• Professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer), CCM (Certified Construction Manager), or PMP (Project Management Professional).
