Position Summary
Walker Process Equipment (WPE) is seeking a Project Engineer to lead and manage engineering projects from concept through completion. This role combines technical expertise, project management leadership, cross-functional coordination, and customer engagement to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting the highest quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, technically proficient, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage engineering projects through all phases, including design, procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, and project closeout.
Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, and resources to ensure successful project execution.
Review customer specifications, drawings, and technical requirements.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, schedules, reports, and engineering records.
Collaborate with internal departments including sales, manufacturing, purchasing, and field service teams.
Provide technical support to customers, vendors, and internal teams.
Assist in the development and review of engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications.
Monitor project costs and support budget management efforts.
Identify project risks and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Participate in project meetings and communicate project status updates to stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable industry regulations.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes and project execution.
Travel to customer sites or manufacturing facilities as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited institution required.
Capable of applying standard engineering techniques and procedures in carrying out technical assignments.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to read and fully understand construction, fabrication, and electrical drawings.
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Solid work ethic and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
3D CAD experience required; SolidWorks experience preferred.
Professional Engineering (PE) license is highly desirable.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a manufacturing plant environment with occasional exposure to machinery, noise, and manufacturing processes. Occasional travel to customer sites and vendor locations may be required.
Compensation
This is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $72,000 to $118,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
