About the Role
The Project Engineer provides technical and administrative support to the Project Manager and Superintendent throughout all phases of construction projects—from preconstruction through closeout. This role is responsible for coordinating project documentation, supporting field operations, and ensuring timely communication between project stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Document Control & Project Administration
Manage submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs), including tracking, review, distribution, and follow-up to meet project deadlines
Maintain accurate project logs (submittal log, RFI log, drawing/changelog)
Organize and manage project documentation within Procore or other project management systems
Compile and coordinate project closeout documents for turnover to the owner
Project Coordination
Communicate updates, document changes, and potential issues impacting schedule or budget to the Project Manager and Superintendent
Assist in obtaining permits and ensuring compliance with municipal, county, and state requirements
Interpret construction drawings and specifications for subcontractors and internal teams
Support coordination between architects, engineers, subcontractors, and owners
Bidding & Buyout Support
Assist, as requested by the PM, with bid solicitations, including contacting subcontractors and maintaining bid logs
Support with letters of intent, bid evaluations, and procurement activities
Assist with preparation of purchase orders and subcontract agreements
Field & Construction Support
Visit job sites regularly to monitor progress, verify work aligns with plans and specifications, and gain field experience
Support quality control by helping verify work complies with codes, drawings, and specifications
Assist with scheduling, safety documentation, and punch list completion
Meetings & Communication
Attend project meetings, including post-bid and Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings
Prepare meeting documentation and track action items as requested by the project manager
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned in support of project success and company objectives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Required Skills
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
Strong organizational and time management skills with attention to detail
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in construction software and tools (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite)
Preferred Skills
Internship or prior experience in construction or project engineering
Familiarity with construction processes, scheduling, and contract documents
Pay range and compensation package dependent of Experience and Education
