Project Engineer
Pay: $38-48/hour
Position Overview
Our client is a producer of high quality chemicals that supports pharma, beauty and food industries. The Project Engineer works in a cGMP‑regulated manufacturing environment, and carries broad responsibility for providing technical oversight and leadership across all phases of project planning, development, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct a variety of complex engineering projects including scope, budgets, schedules, tasks, milestones, and goals.
Manufacturing lines up to $10M
Utility upgrades, small and large retrofits
Facility improvements and modifications
Interpret process flow diagrams to size piping accurately and collaborate with Process and Production Engineers on efficient equipment layouts.
Partner with the CAD team and review drawing development with the BIM (3D design) group.
Facilitate the execution of facility and manufacturing improvements that meet Food Safety and API standards.
Oversee construction and installation activities with both external contractors and companies in‑house trades.
Prepare accurate cost estimates and project schedules to deliver projects on time and within budget.
Work closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, and quality teams to ensure optimal designs with minimal disruption to daily operations.
Manage a variety of technical projects (utilities, process‑based, building modifications, etc.).
Represent our client in communication with vendors and contractors to resolve questions and coordinate work.
Stay informed on new engineering methods, recommending efficiencies and reliability improvements.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and Jost’s Management of Change (MOC) processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
Up to 7 years of project engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven ability to deliver successful project outcomes.
Advanced understanding of engineering principles, theories, and methodologies
Experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing (preferred)
Skills
Basic chemical process knowledge
Ability to manage multiple projects effectively
Excellent documentation and attention to detail
Strong collaboration skills across Engineering, Quality, Safety, and Operations
Adaptability to changing priorities
Team‑oriented with the ability to drive project completion
