About Our Client
Our client is a high-volume, precision metal stamping manufacturer consistently recognized as a "Best Place to Work." They operate multi-shift production in a collaborative, team-centric culture where employees are empowered to innovate and grow. Their exceptional retention reflects their commitment to engagement, accountability, and respect. Privately owned, debt-free & well established.
The Role
We've been exclusively retained to help them locate an experienced progressive die designer to join their team to design and optimize high-volume progressive stamping and deep draw dies for presses ranging from 15 to 300 tons. This hands-on engineering position combines strong mechanical design expertise with practical knowledge of die construction, strip development, and high-speed production. You'll work collaboratively with toolmakers, quality, and production teams.
What You'll Do
Design progressive stamping and deep draw dies optimized for high-volume production
Develop complete strip layouts including pitch development, station progression, and forming strategy
Engineer forming, blanking, piercing, coining, tapping, and drawing stations
Calculate tonnage requirements and ensure tooling compatibility across press ranges
Design for high-speed production while minimizing scrap and maximizing die life
Integrate die protection and error-proofing systems (misfeed detection, part ejection sensors, etc.)
Design tooling for brass, copper, alloys, and specialty metals, accounting for spring back, grain direction, and work hardening
Create detailed 3D CAD designs and fully detailed manufacturing prints
Partner with toolmakers, quality, and production during die build and launch
Drive continuous improvement through strip layout optimization and cost reduction
Experience You’re Bringing
Journeyman Tool & Die background or formal training in tool & die technology
5+ years of progressive die design experience in high-speed stamping environments
Demonstrated expertise designing progressive stamping and deep draw dies with servo feed and coil handling
Experience designing tooling for 15–300-ton presses
Strong understanding of strip development and station sequencing
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
Solid mechanical aptitude and GD&T knowledge
Experience with ISO or quality management systems
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement background
Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
Competitive compensation based on experience.
