A day in your role
You kick off the morning by opening SolidWorks/LogoPress to translate customer prints and RFQs into manufacturable concepts—developing flat-blank layouts, 3D assemblies, and clear blueprints with GD&T. Mid-morning, you collaborate with programmers, EDM and CNC teams, the press brake crew, quality, and the toolroom to refine a progressive die that integrates sensors and automation. After lunch, you’re on the floor reviewing a prototype build, approving requisitions, and troubleshooting a forming station. You wrap the day by updating documentation, incorporating customer feedback, and optimizing material selections to balance durability, cost, and performance.
What you’ll own
Conceive and develop press tooling—from temporary stage tools to complex progressive dies—aligned to production volumes and customer specs.
Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and flat blank geometry in SolidWorks/LogoPress (Cadkey a plus).
Prototype, test, and validate design intent, quality, and functionality.
Review CAD files, RFQs, and prints to meet requirements and budget constraints.
Oversee fabrication, approve requisitions, and support root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
Partner cross-functionally with EDM, CNC, programmers, press brake, quality, and toolroom.
Select materials and standard components to achieve reliability, throughput, and cost targets.
Revise designs from testing outcomes, customer input, and engineering clarifications.
Maintain complete, accurate documentation across design, testing, and production specs.
What you bring
5–7 years of tool & die design experience in manufacturing.
Fluency in SolidWorks/LogoPress; expert blueprint reading with GD&T.
Working knowledge of machining, metal stamping, and laser cutting.
Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis; organized multitasker with clear communication.
Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Preferred
Bachelor’s in Engineering, or equivalent background (HS diploma plus technical degree).
Hands-on exposure to tooling design, prototyping, and production support.
Understanding of materials, tooling components, and manufacturing methods.
Direct, hands-on experience building dies.
Physical requirements
Stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the day.
Lift up to 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Strong vision, depth perception, and manual dexterity for precision design and inspection.
