Position Overview

The company is seeking a Professional Engineer to support engineering design, review, field coordination, and project execution across pressure vessels, mechanical systems, structural steel, lift plans, and rigging design.


Key Responsibilities
The Professional Engineer will be involved in the design, review, analysis, and execution of industrial construction projects. Responsibilities may include:

Lead or support engineering design and analysis related to pressure vessels, mechanical systems, structural steel components, and rigging/lift plans.
Develop and review lift plans for the safe movement and installation of heavy equipment, vessels, and structural components.
Prepare and review rigging plans, calculations, and equipment selections in alignment with applicable safety standards and project requirements.
Evaluate the structural and mechanical integrity of pressure vessels, steel structures, and related industrial systems.
Develop, review, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
Support compliance with applicable codes and standards, including ASME, AISC, OSHA, and other relevant regulatory or customer requirements.
Provide technical guidance during fabrication, transportation, installation, and field execution.
Assist with stress analysis, material selection, welding procedure review, and related technical evaluations.
Work closely with project managers, field teams, contractors, and customer representatives to support project schedules, budgets, quality, and safety.
Conduct site visits and inspections to review project status, field conditions, lifting operations, and installation activities.
Maintain project documentation, including lift plans, rigging plans, engineering reports, calculations, and compliance records.
Communicate technical issues clearly to internal teams and customer personnel.

Preferred Background & Qualifications
The company is open to a range of backgrounds and recognizes that not every candidate will bring direct experience in every area. Preferred qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Professional Engineer license in Michigan, or the ability/desire to obtain licensure.
Experience in industrial construction, heavy industrial environments, boiler repair, pressure vessels, structural steel, mechanical systems, rigging, or related fields.
Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, AISC standards, OSHA construction standards, or other applicable industrial codes.
Experience developing or reviewing lift plans, rigging plans, engineering calculations, or field installation plans.
Working knowledge of CAD/design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software.
Understanding of welding processes, NDT, material selection, fabrication, or field installation practices.
Experience with project scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 is helpful but not required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Project, and related tools.
Willingness to spend time in the field, travel as needed, enter confined spaces, and work at heights when required.
