Production Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
Location: Plano, TX (Onsite)
Duration: 6 Months Contract-to-Hire
Pay Range: $55/hr - $60/hr on W2 (DOE)
Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Production Engineer / Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to support and optimize mission-critical production environments. This role is ideal for someone with strong experience in Snowflake, Oracle, Python, and production support engineering who thrives in fast-paced environments and is passionate about system reliability, automation, monitoring, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will work closely with development, DevOps, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of enterprise data platforms and applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain reliable, scalable, and highly available production systems and data platforms.
Own end-to-end production support responsibilities including monitoring, incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance optimization.
Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines and workflows using Snowflake and Oracle databases.
Write and tune advanced SQL and PL/SQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes.
Automate operational processes, monitoring, data validation, and deployment activities using Python scripting.
Support orchestration and workflow management tools such as Apache Airflow or Prefect.
Monitor database performance, warehouse utilization, and system health using Snowflake Resource Monitors, Oracle Enterprise Manager, and cloud monitoring tools.
Troubleshoot production incidents related to data inconsistencies, pipeline failures, system outages, and performance bottlenecks.
Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate database and infrastructure changes into CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
Implement and enforce security best practices including RBAC, encryption, data masking, and compliance controls.
Perform capacity planning and optimize cloud/database resource utilization and costs.
Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and system architecture diagrams.
Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual support effort and improve operational efficiency.
Participate in on-call production support rotations as needed.
Required Qualifications
3-4 years of experience in Production Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Production Support environments.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake development and administration.
Strong Oracle database experience including SQL and PL/SQL development.
Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and operational tooling.
Experience building and supporting ETL/data pipeline workflows.
Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Prefect.
Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Azure DevOps.
Experience with monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability tools.
Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in production environments.
Understanding of cloud platforms and infrastructure concepts.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
Experience with SLO/SLA management and reliability engineering principles.
Exposure to DevOps, automation frameworks, and containerized environments.
Knowledge of security and compliance standards for enterprise data platforms.
