Role: Product Engineer – Traction Motor

The Product Engineer – Traction Motor is responsible for supporting the end-to-end product development, industrialization, validation, and lifecycle management of EV traction motors. The role will work closely with product management, design, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and customers to translate market and customer requirements into technically feasible, competitive, reliable, and manufacturable traction motor products.

The role covers the complete traction motor architecture including stator, rotor, housing, shaft, bearings, cooling systems, insulation systems, winding technologies, and motor assembly. The Product Engineer will support product definition from concept through design, prototype development, validation, production launch, and continuous product improvement.

You will play a key role in ensuring that traction motor products meet performance, efficiency, cost, reliability, manufacturability, safety, and customer requirements, while supporting the organization’s product roadmap and electrification strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Support electromagnetic, thermal, mechanical, and NVH optimization activities in collaboration with simulation and design teams.
Participate in technology scouting and evaluation of next-generation motor technologies.

Validation, Testing & Performance Evaluation

Support development of Design Verification (DV) and Product Validation (PV) plans for traction motors.
Coordinate and monitor motor testing including performance mapping, efficiency, thermal performance, durability, vibration, NVH, dielectric strength, insulation resistance, and environmental testing.
Analyze test results and identify deviations from product requirements.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for validation failures.
Work with test laboratories and external partners for specialized validation activities.
Ensure test specifications, procedures, and acceptance criteria meet customer and industry requirements.
Support End-of-Line (EOL) test strategy and performance parameter definition.

Cross-Functional Program Management

Act as a technical interface between product management, engineering, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, suppliers, and customers.
Support program planning, milestone tracking, risk management, and issue resolution.
Track engineering deliverables and ensure alignment with project timelines.
Participate in customer technical discussions and support clarification of product requirements.
Coordinate cross-functional teams during prototype builds, validation, pilot production, and production launch.
